Cockpit Floor Fixings

Cockpit floor fixings

The two boards that make up our cockpit floor are fastened down by what look like rather like slotted bolts.... the slotted end goes over a thick wire within a metal fixing bolted to the rim of the engine locker and then is twisted to fasten. Presumably this is the standard arrangement on all Seadogs so you will know what we mean.

We find this arrangement an absolute pain, as it is really awkward to get the slots lined up with the wires, never mind hunting for a coin/screwdriver every time we want to open/close the locker. Has anyone come up with a good alternative to this system? Alternatively, if we are the only ones to find this a problem, what knack are we missing?

Re: Cockpit floor fixings

Hi There
This does not sound like the system that was on Taliesin. That comprised of a bronze screw with a slotted head with a locking bar on the underside which rotated through 90deg coming up to a stop then as you tightened the screw it clamped the lid down. provided that you gave it a spot of grease now and then it was very good and would not have opened in a nock down. Sorry but thats not much help to you.
