Anchors

Here I am again! Researching the size of anchor we need for a kedge I note that the RYA code of practice recommends a 6kg kedge for a 10m yacht (I've rounded up) Trouble is I also notice that they recommend a 13kg main anchor. Stardog has a 10kg Bruce for "normal" as well as the original 35lbs CQR best bower (which stays on deck). This has served us well for two seasons so far, holding in Essex mud in fairly strong (max around F6) winds on sheltered anchorages. The only time I had any trouble was at Stone Point in sand on a steeply shelving shore. I have acquired a 14kg Britany and am wondering if I should make this the Bower and relegate the Bruce to a kedge. Any advice / experience is welcome.

Regards

Alan

Re: Anchors

Always use the 35 lb cqr ourselves, carry a Bruce in the cockpit locker, not sure of the weight. Also have 25lb cqr on deck next to the main anchor.
