Windvanes and Self Steering

Erick Hofland is working on Nausikaa (135) in the Netherlands, and asks what experience people have had with Windpilot, Hydrovane or Aries fitted to a Seadog.
How well did they work?
Did the mizzen boom get in the way?
What comments have you about their installation?
Any advice you can give would be most welcome.
