Winches

I need to service my Lewmar 25 winches and can't get hold of a manual. Does anyone know how the drum comes off? the appears to be some kind of split ring around the centre star spigot is this the way in?

Re: Winches

Hi,
Yes that is it, a sort of spiral thing, can be pulled off easily using a pair of long-nose pliers.
Watch ou for the ratchet mechanism inside, a bit of pring steel holds the 'notch' in place, quite easy to shoot it off at speed, so be ready.

Re: Winches

You are welcome Alan, I have a copy of the manual somewhere, I think I downloaded from the Lewmar website.
We are on Ile de Re at the moment, been on board Dougal since April, probably going to leave her at Rochefort this winter.
See you at Bournemoth?
