I seem to have developed some play in the the shaft that the steering wheel is on where it goes into the steering box. Never taken it apart before. Is it likely to be just an adjustment or am I delving into the realms of engineering?

Re: Steering box.
Hi! You are likely to have the steering box from a Jaguar Mk 10. If so there is an adjustment on the top of the box. It is a vertical screw with screwdriver slot in it, locked by a thin locking nut. Be careful when adjusting this. If you over adjust then the wheel will become tight to turn at both ends of its range. I have an extract from the Jaguar Service Manual showing the internals of the box, which I could send you as an attachment to an email if you wish. Phone me and we could have a chat about it.
We saw Salia yesterday, when we left Newport after a couple of days exercising our bus passes on the Island. Looks good.

Re: Steering box.
Hi John, thanks for that. A copy of the extract from the service manual would be most helpful. I will take the wheel and cover off to check what I have got and then give you a ring for a chat about it.
We have just put some new dodgers on Salia to smarten her up, we seem to be spending so much time away on her that some things seem to be a bit neglected. We are spending next weekend having a tidy up and some routine maintenance ready for heading off for a couple of weeks the following weekend. Hope you enjoyed your trip to the Island.
