COST OF REPLACEMENT APPROX £250-300 REBUILD COST £22.26

Local builders merchant

2 X 1.1/4" black iron elbow £7.34

1 X 1.1/4"X6" tube threaded 2.1/2" one end and ¾" the other with nut £12.29

1 X 1.1/4"X 3"long tube threaded each end £2.63

The elbows have tapered threads and you may find it easier to assemble if you have the threads re cut to straight by a local plumber. I didn't, and I found it a bit of a struggle, however it can be done with the taper.

To get the holes in the base plate to line up with the inlet and outlet pipes you will have to hacksaw off one flange from each elbow. Cut the thread off the short pipe and use it to connect the two elbows together. Screw the remainder of the short pipe into the outlet side of the bend.

The long pipe is screwed into the inlet side, use one of the flanges you cut off the bend to act as a stopper on the inside of the base plate. The nut you have with the 6" pipe is used on the outside of the base plate to lock the bends in place, this leaves 2" of threaded pipe to take the flexible exhaust pipe of 41mm and then fix with 2 exhaust clamps.

I did not have to do any work on the outlet as this was still in reasonable condition to accept the rubber exhaust hose, but should it be necessary to replace the outlet pipe it would be quite simple. The hardest job was filing out the base plate to take the 1.1/4" pipe.

The assembly of the whole system should be completed with gaskets and gasket goo.
