A while ago I got chatting to a chap who has patented an idea that could revolutionise the boating industry. The BoatScrubber is designed to scrub the hull of any boat whilst it is still in the water. Two computer controlled brushes 'feel' their way around any hull and wipe away weed and slime. If you are planning a long voyage you could save a lot of money without the risk of travelling without local charts.

Electronic Charts

I have discovered an interesting site www.fugawi.com that offers chart plotting software for use on a personal computer. They can also supply some charts but you can also use their software with charts you scan yourself. We have been using the software for many years on 'Dougal' and would be happy to discuss with anyone interested.
